Dear vUSCI Pilots,
As you know, today marks 18 years after 9/11/2001. We lost 3,000 beautiful lives that day due to the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center. These tragic events shaped our worlds forever with the induction of TSA, airline layoffs and following bankruptcies. United and American were among the hardest airlines hit by these tragedies. Regardless of biases, the United States pulled together as one, and we learned that there is nothing that we can’t overcome… together. While time is passing there will be no forgetting the 11th of September. Every day we will remember every rescuer who died in honor. Every crew member that fought to keep us safe. Every family that lives in grief because they lost a loved one. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of children and loved ones alike. Today is not an easy day to talk about, but we feel that it is imperative. Education prevents ignorance and ignorance can sometimes lead to disaster. The more conversations we have, the less likely it is ever to happen again. Please take some time today to remember the heroes we lost 18 years ago today.
